The Basement Press was established in 1959 to serve the Michigan Temperance Foundation in its efforts to assist municipalities in liquor by the glass ballot proposals.  By 1963 the press began taking printing related jobs from other nonprofit organizations and has continued to serve MTF's successor, the Michigan Interfaith Council on Alcohol Problems (MICAP), as well as the American Alcohol and Drug Information Foundation (AADIF). Don Everett is the press manager and is in his 19th year in the Basement.
